A Streamlined Solution for Presenting Winning Candidates

Candidate-generated resumes certainly do come in all shapes and sizes and in varying tone and expression quality. When presenting candidates to clients, a large component of the recruiter’s job is to present candidates in the best light possible, while fulfilling the clients’ application criteria, preferences and expectations.

The Problem to Solve

Resume editing, clean-up, restructuring, and formatting into branded templates is a menial, arduous task that can take up much of a recruiter’s week. Our client was a national recruitment firm with regional teams of agents, each investing up to 4 hours per candidate—time that could be much better spent building relationships with clients, communicating industry changes, and coaching candidates for successful placements.
For our client’s recruiters, who represent several candidates at any given time—and likewise for clients sifting through high volumes of lengthy job applications—the ability to extract, summarise, and highlight key details against a prescribed selection criteria is an opportunity to achieve significant efficiencies on either side of the candidate presentation and selection fence.
Our task was to develop artificial intelligence-based software that could interpret and extract key data from candidate-prepared resumes and present it in a streamlined, elegant, intuitive format – in seconds not hours.

OptiSol’s Solution

OptiSol used the NLP capability of an LLM to extract and “normalise” content. The content is then “semantically” adjusted and populated into template documents without changing the core facts of the original document.

Results & Outcomes

OptiSol’s automated resume templating solution reduced recruiters’ formatting and editing time from 4 hours on average to complete each document, to just 1 hour for the agents to perform QA and minor changes. In dollar terms this equated to a stunning 389% ROI over a 3-year timeframe.

This solution freed up recruiters from spending the bulk of their working week stuck at the desk formatting documents, to invest their time networking with prospects, gaining better insight into movement and activity within their sector, identifying talent and preparing candidates for successful interviews and career transitions.
